The memorial, at Lambert Castle, had fallen into disrepair.
But funds raised from last year’s “Paws in the Park” event in Goffle Brook Park in Hawthorne made it possible to repair the memorial and add the names.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Wednesday to unveil the refurbished monument, as well as a new memorial garden for pets of Passaic County residents.
The Second Annual "Paws in the Park" event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Goffle Brook Park. The funds raised from this year’s event will go toward purchasing bulletproof tactical vests for K-9s in the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office.
"The Sheriff's Office K-9 Division will use the funds raised from the program to help with expenses that help support the important function of the unit. The K-9 Unit is one of the first lines of defense in our battle against drugs and violence," Passaic County Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik said.
